K17 X GENEVA LEWIS

  • PRIVATE RESIDENCE 235 14th Street Santa Monica, CA, 90402 United States (map)

There are artists we present — and there are artists we grow with. Geneva is the latter.
To welcome her back feels deeply personal to us, as we have had the rare privilege of witnessing her evolution — not only in career, but in voice, depth, and artistic clarity.

New Zealand–born, US–raised, Geneva Lewis has steadily built a reputation as one of the most thoughtful and compelling violinists of her generation. A recipient of both the Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award, she continues to emerge on the international stage with a presence that is unmistakably her own.

She is praised for her lustrous tone and a kind of quiet, internal intensity — what critics have described as “poised, searching, and beautifully refined musicianship.” There is precision in her playing, but never rigidity; freedom, but never indulgence.

For this evening, Geneva brings a program that moves across time and emotional language:

— Johann Sebastian Bach — Sonata No. 3 for Violin and Piano
— Esa-Pekka Salonen — Lachen Verlernt (solo violin)
— Franz Waxman — Carmen Fantasy
— Johannes Brahms — Piano Quartet in B minor

She will be joined by Alin Melik-Adomyan and Evgeny Tonkha.

At K17, we believe music lives fully only in connection — between artists and audience, between past and present, between individual voice and shared experience. Evenings like this are not just performances, but a continuation of something we are building together.

We would love for you to be part of it.
